Frequently asked questions

What does “Bare Earth” mean?
Bare Earth refers to terrain elevation data intended to represent the ground surface beneath vegetation and other surface features where suitable elevation data is available. Coverage and detail can vary by location.
Why is terrain data unavailable for a property?
Terrain and elevation availability depends on the source data available for that area, network conditions, and whether the requested property falls within supported coverage. If a layer does not load, try again later or select another property.
Are parcel boundaries exact legal boundaries?
No. Parcel boundaries shown in Bare Earth are for planning and informational use. They should not be treated as a legal survey, title determination, engineering document, or replacement for a licensed surveyor or local land records.
Can Bare Earth tell me where to build?
Bare Earth can help you understand terrain, slope, drainage, elevation, and other land characteristics, but it does not replace professional engineering, surveying, geotechnical work, permitting, environmental review, or local building requirements.
Why do some layers look different from satellite imagery?
Satellite imagery and terrain-derived layers come from different datasets and collection dates. Terrain layers are designed to highlight ground shape and elevation rather than reproduce current surface photography.
How do I restore my subscription?
Open Bare Earth and use the Restore Purchases option in the subscription or account area. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and are managed through the App Store.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Subscriptions purchased through the App Store are managed by Apple. On your Apple device, open Settings, tap your Apple ID, choose Subscriptions, then select Bare Earth.
Does Bare Earth work everywhere?
Not every location has the same level of parcel, elevation, or terrain coverage. Available features can vary based on public data sources and geographic coverage.
